Richard Michael Blitt is a Canadianscreenwriter,film director,producer, andactor who has been based in Los Angeles since 1994.

Early in his career, Blitt was a writer onThe Jeff Foxworthy Show andPolitically Incorrect with Bill Maher. He was one of the original writers onFamily Guy, where he would go on to become a producer and write several episodes. He also appeared as an actor inFamily Guy's first ever live action sequence alongsideAlyssa Milano.

He co-wrote and starred in aFox pilot in 2003 titledBlitt Happens starringJim Parsons and directed byThe Farrelly Brothers.

He created and was the executive producer ofThe Winner starringRob Corddry for Fox. He also created the seriesRomantically Challenged, re-teaming with its star Alyssa Milano onABC.

Ricky has been a series regular and writer for thePeter Farrelly-Bobby Mort created comedyLoudermilk for the past three seasons on theAudience network. He co-wroteDear Santa (2024) with Farrelly.

In film, Blitt won a Perspectives of the Media award for his screenplay forFox Searchlight'sThe Ringer. Blitt made his directing debut with his filmHit By Lightning starringJon Cryer.

Blitt also owns a production company, Candy Bar Productions.

Personal life

Blitt was raised inCôte Saint-Luc,Quebec, a municipality on theIsland of Montreal. He is a graduate ofMcGill University and attended theAFI Conservatory. His older brother is magazine illustratorBarry Blitt.[1][2] He isJewish.[3]
