Richard Steven Horvitz[a] (born July 29, 1966)[1] is an American actor, comedian and voice director. He is best known for his voice work in animation and video games. His voice credits include the originalAlpha 5 onMighty Morphin Power Rangers,Power Rangers Zeo andPower Rangers Turbo, Razputin Aquato inPsychonauts, Kaos inSkylanders, Billy and his father Harold inGrim & Evil andThe Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Grey Matter inBen 10, Rodney inSquirrel Boy, Daggett inThe Angry Beavers, Zim inInvader Zim, Orthopox inDestroy All Humans!, the Zoni inRatchet & Clank, Bumble inKinectimals, the Space Weaver inBroken Age, Kanchomé inZatch Bell!, andMoxxie inHelluva Boss.
Horvitz was born inLos Angeles,California. His father Louie was a planning engineer forRocketdyne for over 35 years.[2] His maternal grandfather was born inCuba, and his mother's family is fromMadera, Mexico.[3] His older brother,Louis J. Horvitz, is a television director and producer. As a child, Horvitz was inspired byFlip Wilson,Tom Jones, andDon Adams, doing impressions of them.[4]

Horvitz first appeared in a 1976Freshen Up gum commercial, which led to other commercial appearances and severalhand modeling jobs. After a brief stint in an off-Broadway production ofOliver! he went on to make appearances on television series such asKids Incorporated andSafe at Home, and films such asSummer School,How I Got into College, andDeadly Weapon.[5] From 1988 to 1991, he starred as Howie for two seasons in the syndicated television sitcomThe Munsters Today.
Starting in 1993, Horvitz changed the focus of his career to voice acting, starting with the voices of Alpha 5 and Alpha 4 in the live-action seriesMighty Morphin Power Rangers. From there, he had several other voice roles in such animated series asThe Angry Beavers (as Daggett),Invader Zim (as Zim),[6]Kim Possible,Dave the Barbarian (as Ned Frischman),Zatch Bell! (as Kanchomé),The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (as Billy and his father Harold),[7]Ben 10 (as Grey Matter),Squirrel Boy (as Rodney), andShorty McShorts' Shorts (as Dudley). He also co-wrote theGrim Adventures of Billy and Mandy episode "Keeper of the Reaper" alongside his wife Kristen Lazarian.
After his stint as Alpha 5 ended, Horvitz went on to voice a few monsters in otherPower Rangers series and was also the voice of Alpha 7 in thePower Rangers Wild Force episode "Forever Red". He voiced the main characters of Raz in thePsychonauts series and Orthopox in theDestroy All Humans! series. He has also voiced variousNPCs inEverQuest II, the Berserker Darklings inThe Darkness, Bumble inKinectimals, and Kaos inSkylanders: Spyro's Adventure.[8]
Horvitz voiced "Green Grapes" in theFruit of the Loom commercials and has acted on stage, including inJeffrey Hatcher'sMrs. Mannerly.[9]
Horvitz also voices Moxxie and serves as a voice director in the adult animated web seriesHelluva Boss. He also played the roles of Alpha 8 and Alpha 9[10] in theNetflix specialMighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, which celebrated the 30th anniversary of thePower Rangers franchise.[11]
In 2001, Horvitz was in thesketch comedy group The MoHos withFred Willard, created by Fred's wife Mary Lovell.[12] He and Fred would sometimes perform on various talk shows includingJimmy Kimmel Live! andThe Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Horvitz also appeared in an episode ofSaturday Night Live in the short segment "Bear City" and briefly appeared onTosh.0.[12]
Horvitz married playwright and screenwriter Kristen Lazarian on February 9, 1996. They currently live inLos Angeles and have three sons together.[13] He speaks fluentSpanish.
