Richard Dixon (translator)

English translator

Richard Dixon is an English translator ofItalian literature. He translated the last works ofUmberto Eco, including his novelsThe Prague Cemetery, shortlisted for theIndependent Foreign Fiction Prize 2012, andNumero Zero, commended by the judges of theJohn Florio Prize, 2016. He has also translated works byGiacomo Leopardi,Roberto Calasso andAntonio Moresco.

Life

Richard Dixon was born inCoventry, in 1956. He was educated atKing Henry VIII School andLanchester Polytechnic, where he graduated in Business Law. He practised as a barrister in London for ten years before moving to Italy in 1989, where he now lives.[1][2][3]
