Ricarte "Dong" Robledo Padilla (born June 1, 1965) is a Filipino politician who currently serves as the Governor ofCamarines Norte. He is the half-brother of SenatorRobin Padilla and actorsRommel Padilla andBB Gandanghari.[2]

Early life

Ricarte Padilla was born inJose Panganiban, Camarines Norte toRoy Padilla Sr., a formerGovernor of Camarines Norte who was assassinated in 1988, and Carmelita Robledo.[3] He has 47 siblings,[4] including older brothers Restituto ("Resty", died 2002) and Ronaldo (died 1988),[5][6] younger sister Rebecca,[4] and half-siblingsRobin Padilla,Rommel Padilla, Royette Padilla,BB Gandanghari (formerly Rustom Padilla) and Casimero "Kuatro" Padilla.[7][8] His grandfather was also a formerGovernor of Bulacan.[9][2]

Career

Padilla was the former mayor ofJose Panganiban, Camarines Norte before running for Vice Governor but losing with 117,952 votes.[2][10] He filed an unsuccessful appeal to theSupreme Court against the result.[11][12]

In 2022, Padilla was elected asGovernor of Camarines Norte with 162,081 votes.[13] Padilla ousted the reelectionist incumbentEdgardo Tallado.[14]

On June 30, 2025, Padilla was suspended for 18 months by theOffice of the Ombudsman for allegedly appointing two indivudals to government posts without authorization.[1]
