Ricanau Mofo, alsoRicanaumofo,[2] is a village ofNdyuka Maroons in theMoengo resort of theMarowijne District ofSuriname.[3] The village can be accessed from theEast-West Link viaMoengo.[4] Ricanau Mofo is located on theCottica River.[5]
Ricanau Mofo has a school and a health clinic.[3] The village is connected to the electricity grid, and in July 2019, construction started on supplying the village with clean drinking water.[2]
The economy of the village is based on agriculture with an emphasis on producingginger,arrowleaf elephant ear (tayer), and bananas.[6]Tayer is the basis of the popular Suriname dishpom.[7] In 2019, a Farmers Field School was opened in the village.[8]
