Rhynchosaurus (beaked lizard) is agenus ofrhynchosaur that lived during theMiddle Triassicperiod. It lived inEurope. It was related to thearchosaurs, but not within that group. The type species ofRhynchosaurus isR. articeps.Michael Benton named two additional species,R. spenceri andR. brodiei, but they were subsequently renamedFodonyx andLangeronyx respectively.[1][2] Fossils ofRhynchosaurus have been found in theTarporley Siltstone Formation (Mercia Mudstone Group) and possibly theSherwood Sandstone Group of theUnited Kingdom.[3]
