Rhabdodendron is a genus offlowering plant in the familyRhabdodendraceae.[1][2] It comprises threespecies oftropicalSouth American trees.[1]
It is placed in its ownfamily,Rhabdodendraceae, which has only been recognized for the past few decades. The 2003APG II system (unchanged from the 1998APG system) assigned it to the orderCaryophyllales in the cladecore eudicots. The 1981Cronquist system placed it in the orderRosales. Before the creation of the family Rhabdodendraceae, the genusRhabdodendron had a very lively history as to taxonomic placement.
