Rethondes (French pronunciation:[ʁətɔ̃d]) is acommune in theOisedepartment in northernFrance.[3] It is associated with the signing of thearmistice of 11 November 1918, which endedWorld War I, although the actual location of the signing was on the other side of theAisne in the commune ofCompiègne. The same spot was also whereNazi Germany hadVichy government sign thearmistice of 22 June 1940, duringWorld War II.[4]
