TheLoveland Reporter-Herald is a daily newspaper published inBerthoud,Colorado. It carries local, regional, national and World news. It is owned byPrairie Mountain Publishing, a subsidiary ofMediaNews Group, who purchased the paper in 2011.

History

TheLoveland Reporter was first published in 1880.[1][2][3] A competitor, theLoveland Daily Herald, first appeared in 1908.[4] The two newspapers merged in 1922 to become theLoveland Reporter-Herald.[5] In its early years, the newspaper sometimes referred to itself informally as theDaily Reporter-Herald[6][7] or theLoveland Daily Reporter-Herald.[8] The nameLoveland Daily Reporter-Herald was copyrighted in 1975.[9] The trademark forReporter-Herald was registered in 1994,[10] followed byLoveland Reporter-Herald in 2014.[11] The masthead has varied slightly over the years, fromLoveland Reporter-Herald toLoveland Daily Reporter-Herald and back again.

TheLoveland Reporter-Herald was acquired in 1967 by Ed and Ruth Lehman, who had previously bought theLongmont Times-Call (1957) and went on to acquire theCañon City Daily Record (1978). Lehman Communication was continued by the next generation of the Lehman family. The newspaper group was expanded with theErie Review,Lafayette News,Louisville Times andSuperior Observer that were combined into theColorado Hometown Weekly.

Prairie Mountain Publishing acquired Lehman Communication in 2011.[12][13][14]

Location

The offices were held in 201 E. Fifth St.,Loveland, Colorado from 1993 to 2017. The paper is as of 2017 based out of neighboringBerthoud, Colorado.[15] From 1956 to 1993, the Reporter-Herald offices were across Fifth Street in what became the Community Health Center. In all, the Reporter-Herald had been in downtown Loveland for more than 100 years, in various locations.[16]
