Remmina is a free and open sourceremote desktop client forPOSIX-based computer operating systems. It supports theRemote Desktop Protocol (RDP),VNC,NX,XDMCP,SPICE,X2Go andSSH protocols and usesFreeRDP as foundation.[4][5]
Remmina is in the package repositories forDebian versions 6 (Squeeze) and later and forUbuntu versions since 10.04 (Lucid Lynx).[6][7] As of 11.04 (Natty Narwhal), it replacedtsclient as Ubuntu's default remote desktop client.[8][9] TheFreeBSD ports/package collection also contains it as a separate port and additional protocol-specific plugin ports.[10]
A common use is to connect to Windows machines, to use servers and computers remotely viaRemote Desktop Services,[11] by system administrators[12] and novice users.
