Christianity is the largestreligion inCape Verde, withRoman Catholics having the most adherents. Different sources give varying estimates on the relative sizes of variousChristian denominations. More than 94% of the population ofCape Verde is Christian, with almost 85% beingRoman Catholic.[2] About 5% of the population is Protestant.[3] The largestProtestant denomination is theChurch of the Nazarene.[4] Other groups include theChurch of the Nazarene, theAssemblies of God,Seventh-day Adventist Church, theUniversal Church of the Kingdom of God,independent Baptists and various otherPentecostal andevangelical groups.[4]
There is a smallBaháʼí Faith community and a smallMuslim community.[4] The number ofagnostics is estimated at less than 1 percent of the population.[4]

The Constitution provides for freedom of religion, and the Government generally respects this right in practice.[4]
In 2023, the country was scored 4 out of 4 for religious freedom.[5]
