The 74regional units of Greece[a] are the country's third-leveladministrative units (countingdecentralized administrations as first-level). They are subdivisions of the country's 13regions, and are further divided intomunicipalities.
They were introduced as part of theKallikratis administrative reform on 1 January 2011 and are comparable in area and, on themainland, coterminous with the "pre-Kallikratis"prefectures of Greece.[1]
