Rebekah Staton is an English actress and narrator. She has had roles inPulling (2006–2009),Doctor Who (2007),Rome (2007),Wallander (2011),Black Mirror (2011),Raised by Wolves (2013–2016),DanTDM Creates a Big Scene (2017), andHome (2019–2020). She was also a narrator forDon't Tell The Bride (2008–2020).

Early life and education

Rebekah Stanton was born inLeek, Staffordshire.[1] Her family moved toShrewsbury,[1] and, when she was nine, toPenkridge,Staffordshire.[1]

She was a student atWolgarston High School[1] inPenkridge, and went on to study acting at theRoyal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating with a BA in Acting (H Level) in 2002.[2]

Career

Staton's theatre work includesPlaying with Fire byDavid Edgar at theNational Theatre.[3]The Crucible at theCrucible Theatre,[3]Simplicity andChasing the Golden Sun at theOrange Tree Theatre.[3]

In 2007, she played Jenny/Mother of "the Family" in theDoctor Who two-part "Human Nature"/"The Family of Blood", alongsideDavid Tennant[4] and Freema Agyeman. The same year, she starred as Althea in two episodes in the seriesRome (2007).[3] She played Louise in theBBC Three award-winning sitcomPulling.[5] She also plays Kristina in theBBC One version ofWallander (2011).[4]

Other appearances include two episodes ofThe Amazing Mrs Pritchard,[3] six ofState of Play,[4] and the filmBright Young Things.[4] She had a small part in the 2006 mini seriesJane Eyre.[4] She plays the character of the superhero "She-Force" in the 2008 ITV2 seriesNo Heroics,[4] and played the character of Kelly in the BBC comedyHome Time.[4]

In 2011, she acted as Caitlin in theSky1 comedy seriesSpy.[6]

In 2011, she appeared in "The Entire History of You", an episode of theanthology seriesBlack Mirror.[4]

From 2013 until 2016, Staton played Della in theChannel 4 sitcomRaised by Wolves, a performance described as "utterly brilliant".[7]

In 2016, Staton was cast in the second series ofOrdinary Lies as Wendy Walker.[5] Filming started in March 2016.[5]

Staton was the narrator for theBBC Three andBBC America documentary18 Pregnant Schoolgirls,[4] as well as being the narrator for theE4 reality television seriesDon't Tell the Bride.[8] She also voices Bethany inDragon Age II,[4] and provided the voiceover for the Channel 5 documentary seriesCandy Bar Girls.[4]

Staton played Katy inHome from 2019 to 2020.[9]

In 2023 Staton played Alice Newman, a lead role oppositeMarianne Jean-Baptiste, in the BBC thriller seriesThe Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies.[10]

Recognition and honours

In July 2025, Staton received an honorary degree fromKeele University.[11]
