Real Crime, formerly known asCrime + Investigation (often shortened toCI) is an Australianpay television channel which focuses oncrime,investigation andmystery programming. It is run byFoxtel Management Pty Ltd.
The channel launched on 1 January 2005, replacing the Australian feed ofTechTV; it was the first version of C+I worldwide, with the American flagship launching three months later..[1] From that date, until 31 July 2024, the programming and name of Crime + Investigation were licensed to Foxtel byA&E Television Networks. On 2 September 2007, the channel became available inNew Zealand onSky,[2] channel 71.[3]
On 1 August 2024, the channel rebranded toReal Crime.[4]
The channel shows a variety of shows dealing with criminal investigations. The content is mostly sourced from overseas except for limited original content such as the popularCrime Investigation Australia hosted bySteve Liebmann focusing on infamous Australian crimes.
FOXTEL has announced it will become the first platform in the world to launch a newly-created Crime & Investigation Network, from January 1. ... The channel will replace TechTV, which will cease to be broadcast on Foxtel Digital after December 31.
