Rea Vaya (which means "we are going" inScamto) is abus rapid transit system operating inJohannesburg, South Africa. It opened in phases starting on 30 August 2009.[2] Rea Vaya links theJohannesburg CBD andBraamfontein withSoweto. It is currently expanding towards Sandton and Alexandra as well. It is one of the first bus rapid transit systems inAfrica.[3]
Rea Vaya routes are divided into three classifications: trunk routes on the main highways and between major destinations; complementary routes running on circular routes that connect to trunks; and feeder routes that radiate out from trunk routes to outlying suburbs.[4]
