TheRaza Jama Masjid (Urdu:رضا جامع مسجد) is aFriday mosque, located in Gajapur Village in theKolhapur district of the state ofMaharashtra, India, located near theVishalgad fort. The mosque was named in honour of theAhmed Raza Khan Barelvi.[1][2][3][4]

2024 attack

On 14 July 2024, aHindutva mob attacked and partially destroyed the mosque and burned copies of theQuran. Witnesses reported that the assailants were shouting slogans ofJai Shri Ram.[1]All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslemeen PresidentAsaduddin Owaisi condemned the attack on the mosque and criticisedDevendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Chief MinisterEknath Shinde by referring to December 6, the day whenBabri Masjid was demolished.[5] On 15 July 2024, Kolhapur police filed a case against over 500 people, including former Rajya Sabha MPSambhaji Raje. The police detained 21 people.[6][7]
