Ravid (Hebrew:רָבִיד,lit. 'Necklace') is a smallkibbutz in northernIsrael. Located to the west of theSea of Galilee, it falls under the jurisdiction ofEmek HaYarden Regional Council. In 2023 it had a population of 127.[1]
Ravid is adjacent to an archaeological site which has been identified as Kfar Mimlah, home to theHezirpriestly family, which was exiled from Judea after theBar Kokhba revolt.
Ravid was established in 1981 by members of the Takam movement as part of theGalilee lookouts programme, including 10 families who had moved from cities.[2]
However, after a social crisis, the kibbutz was dismantled.[2][3] It was successfully re-established in 1994 by former members ofHaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed, and is now part of theDror-Israel movement.[2]
