Rangiora Recreation Ground (also known as theMainPower Oval through a sponsorship deal with local companyMainPower) is acricket ground inRangiora,Canterbury, New Zealand.
The Recreation Ground is recorded as being in existence since the early 1870s, and used for cricket since 1891.[1][2] It first held afirst-class match whenCanterbury playedCentral Districts in the 2003/04State Championship.[3] Since the2011 Christchurch earthquake damagedLancaster Park beyond repair, Canterbury have played many of their first-class home matches in Rangiora.[4] Canterbury first played aList A match there in the 2003/04State Shield when they playedAuckland, with eight matches in that format having been held there in the2011-12 Ford Trophy[5] as well as a handful ofTwenty20 matches.[6] By the end of the 2024–25 season, there had been 42 first-class matches at the ground, and 32 List A matches.[4][5]
Two YouthOne Day Internationals have been played at Rangiora Recreation Ground, both in the2010 Under-19 World Cup whenEngland Under-19s playedWest Indies Under-19s andAustralia Under-19s.[7] The ground has also been used a home venue forCanterbury Women in theState League since the 2006/07 season.[8]
TheCanterbury CountryHawke Cup team use Rangiora Recreation Ground as their home ground.[9] They successfully defended their title there againstNorth Otago in 2014–15.[10]
