Randall Gregory Holcombe (born June 4, 1950) is an Americaneconomist, and the DeVoe Moore Professor of Economics atFlorida State University.[1] He is a Senior Fellow atThe Independent Institute,[2] a Senior Fellow and member of the Research Advisory Council atThe James Madison Institute,[3] and past president of the Public Choice Society.[4] From 2000 to 2006 he served onGovernorJeb Bush's Council of Economic Advisors.[4]
Holcombe is the author of several books oneconomics andAmerican politics.[2] Inlibertarian theoretical discourse, he has argued thatprivate defense agencies could form cartels and oppress people, more or less as governments, with little fear of competition.[5]
Holcombe is a musician and licensed pilot.[6]
