Ranaghat Uttar Paschim Assembly constituency is anassembly constituency inNadia district in theIndianstate ofWest Bengal.
As per orders of theDelimitation Commission, No. 87 Ranaghat Uttar Paschim Assembly constituency is composed of the following:Ranaghat municipality,Taherpur notified area,Birnagar municipality, and Ramnagar I, Barasat, Kalinarayanpur-Paharpur and Khismagram panchayats ofRanaghat Icommunity development block, and Arbandi I and Arbandi II gram panchayats ofSantipur community development block, andFulia Township.[1]
Ranaghat Uttar Paschim Assembly constituency is part of No. 13Ranaghat (Lok Sabha constituency) (SC).[1] Ranaghat East and West were earlier part ofNabadwip (Lok Sabha constituency).[2]

Till 2006, Ranaghat had two Vidhan Sabha constituencies Ranaghat East and Ranaghat West. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned.
In the 2006 state assembly elections,[7] Debendra Nath Biswas ofCPI(M) won the Ranaghat East (SC) assembly constituency defeating his nearest rival Nilima Nag (Mallick) ofTrinamool Congress. Asim Bala of CPI(M) defeated Dr.Ramendra Nath Biswas of Trinamool Congress in 2001.[8] Binay Krishna Biswas of CPI(M) defeated Akhil Kumar Majumdar ofCongress in 1996[9] and 1991,[10] and Dr. Ramendra Nath Biswas of Congress in 1987.[11] Satish Chandra Biswas of CPI(M) defeated Nitai Pada Sarkar, Independent, in 1982[12] and Sushil Kumar Ray of Congress in 1977.[13][14]
In the2006[7] state assembly elections, Aloke Kumar Das ofCPI(M) won the Ranaghat West assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Shankar Singha ofCongress. Shankar Singha of Congress defeatedJyotirmoyee Sikdar in 2001[8] and Sourendra Nath Nag of CPI(M) in 1996.[9] Subhaas Basu of CPI(M) defeated Naresh Chandra Chaki of Congress in 1991.[10] Gour Chandra Kundu of CPI(M) defeated Saradindu Biswas of Congress in 1987,[11] Benoy Chatterjee of Congress in 1982,[12] and Naresh Chandra Chaki of Congress in 1977.[13][15]

Bijoy Krishna Sarkar and Keshab Chandra Mitra, both of Congress, won the Ranaghat seat.
