It was named afterAntoine Clot. It was originally described as belonging to the genusMelanocorypha and is now placed in themonotypic genusRamphocoris.[3]
It is found in northern Africa from Mauritania and Morocco to Libya, also in central regions of theArabian Peninsula. Its naturalhabitats aresubtropical ortropical dryshrubland and hotdeserts.
