Rampasasa pygmies is a name given to a group of families described aspygmoid orNegrito, native to Waemulu Village inWae Rii District,Manggarai Regency,Flores,East Nusa Tenggara,Indonesia, following the discovery ofHomo floresiensis in the nearbyLiang Bua cave in 2003.^[1][2]

The Rampasasa have since been reported as claimingHomo floresiensis as their ancestor and as "cashing in on hobbit craze".^[3]

A genetic study published in 2018 discounted the possibility of the Rampasasa descending fromH. floresiensis, concluding that 'multiple independent instances of hominin insulardwarfism occurred on Flores'. However, as no genetic material fromH. floresiensis was included in the analyses, any truly definitive conclusions cannot be made.^[4]
