Ram Shiromani Verma is an Indian politician and member of theLok Sabha, lower house of theParliament of India fromShravasti constituency,Uttar Pradesh. He was elected in the2024 Indian general election and2019 Indian general election as member of theSamajwadi Party andBahujan Samaj Party respectively.
In March 2019,Mahagathbandhan, the grand alliance ofSamajwadi Party,Bahujan Samaj Party andRashtriya Lok Dal announced that Verma would contest the upcoming2019 Indian general election fromShravasti constituency on the symbol ofBahujan Samaj Party.[1] On 23 May, he was elected to theLok Sabha after defeatingDaddan Mishra, his nearest rival and sitting MP fromBharatiya Janata Party by a margin of 5,320 votes. Verma was polled 440,944 votes. After getting elected, he said that building a college, repairing roads and demanding an expansion of railways in his constituency were his priorities. Being a businessman, he is seldom seen in his constituency.[2]
In2024 Indian general election, he switched over to theSamajwadi Party and successfully defended his seat, defeatingBharatiya Janata Party candidateSaket Mishra by a margin of 76,673 votes.Sources:[3][4]
