Rail Workers (Swedish:Rallare) is a 1947 Swedishdrama film directed byArne Mattsson and starringVictor Sjöström,John Elfström andGunnel Broström.[1][2] It was shot at theRåsunda Studios inStockholm. The film's sets were designed by theart directorNils Svenwall. It is based on the 1946 novelNordanvind byOlle Länsberg.
In 1902 a team ofnavvies work on the construction of anew railway line fromLuleå on theGulf of Bothnia inNorthern Sweden toNarvik on theNorwegian Sea, then underSwedish sovereignty. Valfrid, from Southern Sweden, is ostracised by the other workers and their informal leader Stora Ballong.
