*Raidō "ride" (by extension "journey, wagon etc") is the reconstructedProto-Germanic name of ther-rune of theElder Futharkᚱ. The name is attested for the same rune in all threerune poems,Old NorwegianRæiðIcelandicReið,Anglo-SaxonRad, as well as for the corresponding letter of theGothic alphabet 𐍂r, calledraida. The shape of the rune may be directly derived from LatinR.
