Rahmatullah Mir Qasmi (born 22 July 1957) is a Kashmiri Islamic scholar, founder and rector ofDarul Uloom Raheemiyyah, one of the largest Islamic seminaries inKashmir.[1][2]He is a senior member of the managing committee ofDarul Uloom Deoband, founding member ofAll India Muslim Personal Law Board and a member of the working body ofJamiat Ulama-e-Hind.
Rahmatullah Mir Qasmi was born on 22 July 1957.[3] He graduated from theDarul Uloom Deoband in 1978.[3] He is an authorized disciple ofMahmood Hasan Gangohi in Tasawwuf.[4][5] He establishedDarul Uloom Raheemiyyah, one of the largest Islamicmadrasa inBandipore,Kashmir in 1979.[6] The seminary follows the methodology ofDarul Uloom Deoband.[7] He is a founding member ofAll India Muslim Personal Law Board and a senior member of the managing committee ofDarul Uloom Deoband. He is also a member of the working committee ofJamiat Ulama-e-Hind.[8][9][10]
In 2018, disagreeing with the J&K State Board of Madrasa Education Act, Qasmi said that, "We know how government interference deteriorated those religious institutions which are affiliated withWaqf."[11] He also said that giving authorization to the boards to take control of accounts in these Madrasas will lead to malpractice in utilization of funds donated by people towards these institutions.[11]
