Rafael Tavares Gomes Fernandes (born 28 June 2002) is a Portuguese professionalfootballer who plays as acentre-back for FrenchLigue 1 clubLille.
A youth product ofSporting CP since 2010, he started playing with theirreserves in the 2021-22 season.[1]
On 11 July 2022, he transferred toArouca in thePrimeira Liga signing a three-year contract.[2] He made his professional debut as a half-time substitute in a 4–0 Primeira Liga loss toBenfica on 5 August 2022.[3]
On 31 January 2024, Fernandes moved toLigue 1 sideLille, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.[4] The French club paid a reported €3 million transfer fee.[5]
On 18 January 2025, Fernandes signed forScottish Premiership sideRangers on loan.[6]
Fernandes is a youth international for Portugal, having played for thePortugal U18s andU20s.[7]
