Racquinghem (French pronunciation:[ʁakɛ̃ɡɛm];West Flemish:Rakingem) is acommune in thePas-de-Calaisdepartment in the Hauts-de-Franceregion of France[3] about 6 miles (9 km) southeast ofSaint-Omer, on the banks of theNoeufossé canal, the border between the department ofNord and thePas de Calais.
The commune is close to the eastern boundary of the Helfaut plateau, site of the Helfaut Nature Reserve. Its flora comprises both dry and wetheathland and some protected fauna, mostly amphibians.[citation needed]
