Racing Bulls S.p.A., competing asVisa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team (shortened toRacing Bulls[9] orVCARB), is an ItalianFormula One racing team andconstructor that has been competing since the2024 season. It is one of two Formula One constructors owned by Austrian conglomerateRed Bull GmbH, the other beingRed Bull Racing. The team is based inFaenza and has a base inMilton Keynes near its sister team.[10]
Known asScuderia Toro Rosso from 2006 to 2019 andScuderia AlphaTauri from 2020 to 2023, the team was rebranded toRB for the 2024 season,[11] and then switched to Racing Bulls in 2025.[12]
The current CEO is Peter Bayer, and the team principal isAlan Permane. At the start of the 2024 season, the team retained incumbent driversDaniel Ricciardo[a] andYuki Tsunoda from when it was known as AlphaTauri; Ricciardo was dropped after the2024 Singapore Grand Prix and was replaced with Red Bull junior and reserve driverLiam Lawson.[b] Lawson was promoted to the main Red Bull team for 2025, with Formula 2 graduateIsack Hadjar taking his place at Racing Bulls. Lawson was subsequently dropped from the Red Bull team after two races and returned to Racing Bulls, with Tsunoda promoted to the senior team. The team scored their first podium as Racing Bulls at the2025 Dutch Grand Prix.
The team traces its roots toMinardi, which competed in Formula One from 1985 to 2005, before being bought byRed Bull in 2006 to become the junior team toRed Bull Racing. From 2006 to 2019, it competed as "Toro Rosso" and was known for housing future Red Bull talent, such as future four-time World ChampionSebastian Vettel, formerScuderia Ferrari driver and currentWilliams Racing driverCarlos Sainz Jr., and reigning four-time World ChampionMax Verstappen. In addition, Toro Rosso had previously employed 2023–24 driverDaniel Ricciardo as part of its line-up in 2012 and 2013.[15][16]
For the2020 Formula One World Championship, Toro Rosso was rebranded to "AlphaTauri" in order to promote Red Bull'sAlphaTauri fashion brand.[17] According toFranz Tost andHelmut Marko, the rebrand to Scuderia AlphaTauri also acknowledged that it had transitioned from Red Bull Racing's junior team to its sister team.[18]
The team was rebranded toVisaCash App RB F1 Team for the 2024 season,[11][19] shortened to the acronymised "VCARB".[20][21] The new name was widely criticised by fans and the media,[22][23][24][25] with Edd Straw ofThe Race calling it "the worst team name in Formula 1 history" and "an embarrassment to Red Bull and Formula 1 as a whole", arguing that the name "RB" lacks "personality, identity and ambition", could easily be confused with Red Bull Racing, and exists solely to force the sponsors to be mentioned more often.[26] For the2025 season, the team was entered as "Racing Bulls", discontinuing the usage of the "RB" initialism.[9][27]

RB entered the 2024 Formula One World Championship with driversDaniel Ricciardo andYuki Tsunoda.[20][28] The team continued usingHonda RBPT power units, having usedHonda-designed power units since the2018 season when it was namedScuderia Toro Rosso.[29][30]
In the2024 Chinese Grand Prix, the team suffered a double retirement, caused byHaas'sKevin Magnussen crashing intoYuki Tsunoda andDaniel Ricciardo's rear being struck byLance Stroll. Both drivers suffered major damage to their diffusers, with Ricciardo in particular being forced to retire a few laps later. Tsunoda suffered terminal rear-right damage and retired on the spot.[31][32] Ahead of theUnited States Grand Prix, Ricciardo would leave the team and be replaced by reserve driverLiam Lawson for the remainder of the season.[33]

Lawson would then be promoted toOracle Red Bull Racing to replace the outgoingSergio Pérez with his place being taken by F2 graduate and Red Bull Junior driver,Isack Hadjar.[34] However, Lawson returned to Racing Bulls after two Grands Prix with Red Bull, with Tsunoda being promoted up to the main team in his place.[7]
With its sister teamRed Bull Racing switching toRed Bull Ford Powertrains power units, Racing Bulls will also follow suit and switch to Red Bull Ford Powertrains from2026 and thus Racing Bulls will conclude the eight-year long-standing alliance withHonda that powered theFaenza-based team since2018 season underScuderia Toro Rosso andScuderia AlphaTauri brandings.[35]
