Rachid Peter Harkouk[1] (born 19 May 1956) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. Born in England, he represented theAlgeria national team at international level.[2]

International career

Harkouk was born in England to an Algerian father and English mother ofWelsh descent.[3] He appeared for Algeria at the1986 FIFA World Cup, coming on as a substitute forRabah Madjer in their opening game againstNorthern Ireland.[4] He did not feature againstBrazil but was the lone striker againstSpain.[5] During that game, he sustained a knee injury that ended his career.[6]

Personal life

After his retirement from football, Harkouk became a businessman in the village ofBurton Joyce.[7] In August 2011, he was jailed for 28 months for conspiring to supply illegal drugs.[8]
