Ribosomal protein S6 kinase alpha-2 is anenzyme that in humans is encoded by theRPS6KA2gene.[5][6]

This gene encodes a member of the RSK (ribosomal S6 kinase) family ofserine andthreoninekinases. This kinase contains 2 non-identical kinase catalytic domains and phosphorylates various substrates, including members of themitogen-activated kinase (MAPK) signalling pathway. The activity of this protein has been implicated in controlling cell growth anddifferentiation. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding differentisoforms, have been characterized.[6]

Interactions

[edit]

RPS6KA2 has been shown tointeract withMAPK3[7][8] andMAPK1.[7][8]
