The R407 begins inWillowmore,Eastern Cape, at a junction with theN9 national route (Knysna Street). It heads west for 93 kilometres, crossing into theWestern Cape, to reach a junction with the N12 national route atKlaarstroom. The R407 joins the N12 westwards for 7 kilometres before becoming its own road westwards while the N12 turns to the north.[1]
The R407 continues westwards for 42 kilometres to meet the northern terminus of theR328 route. It then turns northwards and heads for 6 kilometres to pass through the town ofPrince Albert before continuing north-west for another 43 kilometres to reach its end at a junction with theN1 national route atPrince Albert Road.[1]
