R. P. Goyal was an Indian career banker who served as the tenthChairman of State Bank of India.[1][2]

He was born and raised in the Indian city ofMumbai.[3]

He died on 22 October 2011 inWorli,Mumbai.[3] His obituary was published byThe Times of India on 23 October 2011.[3]

Career

Early career

He had joined theState Bank of India as a probationary officer and served in a number of roles until finally becoming theChairman of State Bank of India in 1983.[1][2]

Banking career

He served as the tenthChairman of State Bank of India from 31 January 1983 until 30 November 1983.[1][2]

After his retirement in 1983, he was succeeded byVishwanath N. Nadkarni as theChairman of State Bank of India.[1][2]

Later career

After having retired from theState Bank of India in 1983, he became a lifelong member of theInstitute of Cost Accountants of India.[4]
