Răscoala is a 1965 Romaniandrama film directed byMircea Mureșan based on a novel byLiviu Rebreanu about theRomanian peasant uprising of 1907. Mureșan won the prize for Best First Work at the1966 Cannes Film Festival.^[1] It was the firstRomanian film to be submitted to theAcademy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. However, it failed to benominated.^[2]
