Rógvi Jacobsen (born 5 March 1979) is a former Faroesefootballer who played as anattacking midfielder. He is the all-time top scorer of theFaroe Islands national football team alongsideKlæmint Olsen.
Jacobsen was born inKlaksvík. He played at semi-professional level for Icelandic teamKR Reykjavík and Danish sideSønderjyskE.
In August 2007, he went on a trial toCarlisle United. The trial did not end with a permanent contract so he continued playing withHB. In 2008, he signed a professional contract withNorwegian First Division sideIL Hødd.
Jacobsen made his debut forFaroe Islands in an August 1999, in a friendly match againstIceland. He is known for having scored a Faroese goal in the 2–1 home loss to the World ChampionsItaly. On 21 November 2007, he scored his 10th goal for the Faroese national team, in a 3–1 away loss toItaly, hence breakingTodi Jónsson's record, and became all-time leading scorer of his country.[1]He has 53 caps for the Faroe Islands national side and has scored 10 goals.
In 2007, Jacobsen was nicknamedInzaghi Faroese byLa Gazzetta dello Sport.[2]
