"Quelqu'un que j'aime, quelqu'un qui m'aime" was written by French-Canadian lyricistLuc Plamondon and Italian composer Roberto Masala aka Erown, and produced byJannick Top and Serge Perathoner.[1] It was one of four new songs written for the albumDion chante Plamondon, which was released in Canada in November 1991.[1] In August 1992, "Quelqu'un que j'aime, quelqu'un qui m'aime" was issued as the fourth promotional single in Quebec, after "Des mots qui sonnent", "L'amour existe encore" and "Je danse dans ma tête".[2]
In 1993, the song was nominated for theFélix Award for Most Popular Song of the Year in Quebec.[3]
"Quelqu'un que j'aime, quelqu'un qui m'aime" entered the radio chart in Quebec on 29 August 1992 and topped it for seven consecutive weeks.[4] It spent 23 weeks on the chart in total.[4]
