The Quarterly Journal of Economics is apeer-reviewedacademic journal published by theOxford University Press for theHarvard University Department of Economics. Its currenteditors-in-chief areRobert J. Barro,Lawrence F. Katz,Nathan Nunn,Andrei Shleifer, andStefanie Stantcheva.

It is the oldest professional journal ofeconomics in the English language,^[1] and second-oldest in any language after theZeitschrift für die gesamte Staatswissenschaft [de]. It covers all aspects of the field—from the journal's traditional emphasis on micro-theory to both empirical and theoreticalmacroeconomics.

According to theJournal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2015impact factor of 6.662, ranking it first out of 347 journals in the category "Economics".^[2] It is generally regarded as one of the top 5 journals in economics, together with theAmerican Economic Review,Econometrica, theJournal of Political Economy, andThe Review of Economic Studies.
