Qaldoun al-Marah (Arabic:قلدون المراح, also calledal-Mirah) is a village in southernSyria, administratively part of theRif Dimashq Governorate, located on the northeast ofDamascus, on the ancient caravan route toHoms andAleppo, in theQalamoun Mountains. Nearby localities includeYabroud,an-Nabek,al-Sahel andDeir Atiyah to the north,ar-Ruhaybah,Jayroud,al-Dumayr andal-Qutayfah to the south, andMa'loula,Assal al-Ward andHosh Arab to the southwest. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics, Qaldoun al-Marah had a population of 2,561 in the 2004 census.[1]
In 2019, practices and craftsmanship associated with the Damascene rose in the village were included into theUNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list asIntangible cultural heritage.[2]
