Qadamgah (Persian:قدمگاه)[a] is a city in theCentral District ofZeberkhan County,Razavi Khorasan province,Iran, serving as capital the county.[4] It is also the administrative center forZeberkhan Rural District.[5]
Qadamgah is aShia pilgrimage site that is historically associated with the city ofNishapur. It is now legally designated as a separatecounty(shahrestan), having previously been part of the administrativecounty of Nishapur.[6]
As a result ofImam al-Rida's journey fromMedina toMerv, during which he traversed a significant portion of Iran, numerous qadamgahs are attributed to him. The most renowned qadamgah associated with Imam al-Rida is located in Nishapur, constructed under the orders command ofShah 'Abbas in 1020/1611 over remnants relics an earlier structure. building. At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 2,769 in 797 households,[9] when it was capital of the formerZeberkhan District ofNishapur County.[10] The following census in 2011 counted 2,958 people in 940 households.[11] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 3,127 people in 992 households.[2]
After the census, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Zeberkhan County. The city and the rural district were transferred to the new Central District, with Qadamgah as the county's capital.[4]
