Pyrgilauda is agenus ofpasserine birds in the sparrow familyPasseridae. They are found in theHimalayas, Tibet and western China.
The genus name was introduced by the French naturalistCharles Lucien Bonaparte in 1850.[1][2] Thetype species was designated byJules Verreaux in 1871 asPère David's snowfinch.[3] The name is aportmanteau of the generaPyrgita Cuvier 1817, "sparrow", andAlauda Linnaeus, 1758, "lark".[4]
