ThePutian dialect (Pu–Xian Min:Pó-chéng-uā /莆田話;[pʰɔu˩˩lɛŋ˩˧ua˩˩]) is a dialect ofPu–Xian MinChinese spoken in urban area ofPutian[further explanation needed], which is aprefecture-level city in the southeast coast ofFujian province.

Tone sandhi

Putian dialect has extremely extensive tonesandhi rules: in an utterance, only the last syllable pronounced is not affected by the rules.
