Sergei Prokofiev wrote the twoPushkin Waltzes (Op. 120) in 1949.
Thewaltzes were written to a commission from the Moscow Radio Committee, for 1949 was the 150th anniversary ofPushkin's birth.
The two waltzes (lasting around 8 minutes) are titled:
The work is scored for 2flutes, 2oboes,cor anglais, 2clarinets,bass clarinet, 2bassoons, 4horns, 2trumpets, 3trombones,tuba,timpani,bass drum,snare drum,wood blocks,cymbals,tambourine,triangle, andstrings.
