
Province 4 (IV), also known as theProvince of Sewanee, isone of nineecclesiastical provinces making up theEpiscopal Church in the United States of America. Being the largest of the provinces of the Episcopal Church, Province 4 is composed of twentydioceses in nine states of theSoutheastern United States. Included in Province 4 are dioceses located inAlabama,Florida,Georgia,Kentucky,Mississippi,North Carolina,South Carolina,Tennessee, and part ofLouisiana. The Province has the largest number ofclergy,baptized members,communicants,church school andday school pupils of any Province in the Episcopal Church.[1] It is named for its seminary, the School of Theology of theUniversity of the South, located inSewanee, Tennessee.[2] Angela Daniel of theDiocese of Upper South Carolina serves as President, and the Rt. Rev. Don Johnson of theDiocese of West Tennessee serves as Vice President.
