Priyanagar is acensus town in theChakdahaCD block in theKalyani subdivision of theNadia district in the state ofWest Bengal,India.

Priyanagar is located at23°02′18″N88°29′50″E / 23.0383°N 88.4973°E /23.0383; 88.4973.
According to the map of Chakdaha CD block, in theDistrict Census Handbook 2011, Nadia,Chanduria, Priyanagar,Shimurali,Jangal,Madanpur,Saguna andKulia form a cluster of census towns betweenChakdaha andKalyani/Gayespur.[1]
Nadia district is part of the large alluvial plain formed by the Ganges-Bhagirathi system. The Kalyani subdivision has theBhagirathi/ Hooghly on the west. Topographically, Kalyani subdivision is a part of the Ranaghat-Chakdaha Plain, the low-lying area found in the south-eastern part of the district.[2] The smallest subdivision in the district, area-wise, has the highest level of urbanisation in the district. 76.73% of the population lives in urban areas and 23.27% lives in the rural areas.[3]

According to the2011 Census of India, Priyanagar had a total population of 5,763, of which 2,848 (49%) were males and 2,915 (51%) were females. Population in the age range 0–6 years was 552. The total number of literate persons in Priyanagar was 4,061 (77.93% of the population over 6 years).[4]
According to theDistrict Census Handbook 2011, Nadia, Priyanagar covered an area of 1.5941 km2. Among the civic amenities, the protected water supply involved overhead tank, tubewell/ borewell, hand pump. It had 517 domestic electric connections. Among the medical facilities the nearest dispensary/ health centre was 3 km away. Among the educational facilities it had 1 primary school, 1 middle school, the nearest senior secondary school at Sikarpur 0.5 km away. Three important commodities it produced were paddy, jute, vegetables.[5]
Simurali railway station, located nearby, is on theSealdah-Ranaghat line of theKolkata Suburban Railway system.[6]
