Prithvi Nath Kaula (1924–2009) was an Indianlibrarian,Library and Information Sciences specialist and author who worked with theBanaras Hindu University inVaranasi, India. Kaula authored sixty books andmonographs, sixprofessional journals (founder-editor), over 400scholarly journal, over 400peer review, 43bibliographies and 6000notes. Kaula was also the recipient of thePadma Shri award in the year 2004.[1][2]
Prithvi Nath Kaula was born in 1924 inSrinagar,Jammu and Kashmir,British India into aKashmiri Pandit family. His family belonged to thelower middle class. He completed his higher educationFaculty of Arts in theBanaras Hindu University inVaranasi. In 1947, he was employed as aLibrarian with theBirla Education Trust inPilani. He later on became theLibrarian atCentral Library, BHU, Head of Department of Library and Information Science,BHU and the Dean ofFaculty of Arts in theBanaras Hindu University.[1][3]
