Prism first appeared inX-Factor #10 (November 1986), and was created byChris Claremont andLouise Simonson.

The character subsequently appears inUncanny X-Men #240-241 (January-February 1989), #243 (April 1989),X-Man #13 (March 1996),Generation M #3 (March 2006),X-Men and Power Pack #4 (March 2006),X-Men: The 198 Files #1 (March 2006),X-Men (vol. 2) #200-204 (August-December 2007), andX-Men: Messiah Complex #1 (December 2007).

Prism appeared as part of the "Marauders" entry in theOfficial Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition #18.

Fictional character biography

Prism is a member of the mercenary group, theMarauders, who is able to use hiscrystalline body to absorb, reflect, and even amplify any beams of light and other energy. Prism is part of a squad of Marauders, along withArclight andScrambler, who are sent to kill the members ofX-Factor as they are evacuating theMorlocks.Jean Grey slams Prism against a wall using her telekinetic powers, killing him.[1]Mister Sinister uses his cloning technology to resurrect Prism and his fellow Marauders.[2]

Prism retains his powers after the events ofM-Day.[3] He and the other Marauders ambush the X-Men atMystique's residence and kidnapRogue to bring her to Mister Sinister.[4]

Prism's body is found shattered by the X-Men when they arrive at an Alaskan town, trying to findHope Summers. Prism is killed in a clash with thePurifiers and eaten byPredator X.[5]

Prism's clone is later tracked down and killed byMagneto.[6] Magneto reprograms the cloned Marauders to serve under his command; after being resurrected, Prism and the other mercenaries join Magneto's side.[7]

Powers and abilities

Prism is able to refract most forms of energy directed at him, including ambient light. He is also capable of storing light within his body, using it as a form of illumination or as a means of blinding his opponents.
