Prievidza District (Slovak:okres Prievidza,Hungarian:Privigyei járás) is adistrict in theTrenčín Region of westernSlovakia. Until 1918, the district was mostly part of thecounty of Kingdom of Hungary ofNyitra, apart from a small area in the southeast aroundHandlová which formed part of the county ofBars.
