Thepresident of Zimbabwe Rhodesia was thehead of state ofZimbabwe Rhodesia. Like the country itself, it wasnever internationally recognized.
The only president of Zimbabwe Rhodesia wasJosiah Zion Gumede.
The position was established on 1 June 1979,[1] under the terms of theInternal Settlement negotiated between the government ofRhodesia and moderate African nationalists. It existed until, under the terms of theLancaster House Agreement, control was turned over toLord Soames asGovernor ofSouthern Rhodesia on 12 December 1979.[2]
