Precision Graphics Markup Language (PGML) is anXML-based language for representingvector graphics. It was aWorld Wide Web Consortium (W3C) submission byAdobe Systems,IBM,Netscape, andSun Microsystems, that was not adopted as arecommendation. PGML is a 2D graphical format, offering precision forgraphic artists, guaranteeing that the design created will appear in end user systems with the correct formatting, layout and the precision of color.

PGML andVector Markup Language, another XML-based vector graphics language W3C submission supported byAutodesk,Hewlett-Packard,Macromedia,Microsoft, andVisio Corporation, were later joined and improved upon to createScalable Vector Graphics (SVG).
