PowNed is a Dutch broadcaster, which transmits radio and television programmes on theNetherlands Public Broadcasting system.[1]

Each weekday evening it airs a satirical news show calledPowNews onNederland 3, in whichpoliticians and other public and non-public figures are confronted with provocative questions, and often ridiculed.

The broadcaster was affiliated with and was started up with the help of the popularGeenStijl shock blog.

The director of PowNed isDominique Weesie (who also presentsPowNews) and their star reporter isRutger Castricum. Other reporters include(d)Jojanneke van den Berge,Jan Roos (also presenter of the radio programmeEchte Jannen with Jan Dijkgraaf) andDaan Nieber. Several other people involved with PowNed programmes (radio and television) are DJsRob Stenders and Bert van Lent, sports presenters Henk Spaan andHugo Borst (of the TV football programmeHeilig Gras),Bas Paternotte (political commentator forEchte Jannen) andBrenno de Winter (ICT commentator for PowNews).

The name is abackronym forPubliekeOmroepWeldenkendNederlandEnDergelijke (English: Public broadcaster (for the) well-thinking Netherlands and the like). PowNed claims to serve thenetwork generation and argues heavily (in atongue-in-cheek style) againstbaby boomers whom it sees as clinging on to power.
